Human Blood Lipoprotein Predictions from 1H NMR Spectra: Protocol, Model Performances, and Cage of Covariance

Bekzod Khakimov et al.

Summary: Lipoprotein subfractions are important biomarkers for early cardiovascular disease diagnosis. This study developed partial least-squares regression models using H-1 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra and ultracentrifugation measurements of lipoproteins to predict lipoprotein concentrations accurately. The models were tested on a separate cohort with high matching rates, and an open software tool was created for predicting lipoprotein concentrations from H-1 NMR spectral recordings.

Baseline Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol and Clinical Outcomes of Combining Ezetimibe With Statin Therapy in IMPROVE-IT

Kazuma Oyama et al.

Summary: The study found that adding ezetimibe to statin therapy consistently reduced the risk of cardiovascular events in post-ACS patients, regardless of baseline LDL-C values, supporting the use of intensive lipid-lowering therapy with ezetimibe even in patients with baseline LDL-C <70 mg/dL.

Triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio is superior to triglycerides and other lipid ratios as an indicator of increased urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio in the general population of China: a cross-sectional study

Jing Xue et al.

Summary: This study found that TG/HDL-C is a superior indicator for predicting increased UACR compared to TG and other lipid ratios. In males who were overweight and in females who were overweight or older than 55 or had prediabetes or prehypertension, TG/HDL-C had significant associations with abnormal UACR.
