Leader Harris Hawks algorithm based optimal controller for automatic generation control in PV-hydro-wind integrated power network

Vineet Kumar et al.

Summary: This manuscript proposes a novel control strategy, the Model Predictive Controller aided with Leader Harris Hawks Optimization (MPC-LHHO) algorithm, for regulating the frequency and voltage in renewable penetrated power systems. The algorithm has been evaluated in two different cases, showing stable responses and proper regulation of voltage and frequency in diverse scenarios. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been confirmed through stability analysis and considering various factors such as random loading, nonlinearities, time delays, reduced inertia, and stochastic load variations.

Dynamic performance enhancement of interconnected hybrid thermal power system in the presence of electric vehicles

Niveditha Sivadanam et al.

Summary: The integration of non-synchronous distributed energy resources and energy storage systems into thermal grids affects the total synchronous inertia, which in turn impacts the frequency response of the electrical grid. The study proposes incorporating plug-in hybrid electric vehicles into load frequency control using a biogeography-based optimization algorithm. Results show that a virtual synchronous power-HVDC tie-link outperforms other tie-links in improving the frequency response, highlighting the role of EVs in enhancing dynamic performance.

Electric vehicles participation in load frequency control based on mixed H2/H∞

Musa Khan et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the smart management of Electric Vehicles (EVs) for Load Frequency Control (LFC), evaluating uncertain capacity and delay, ensuring system stability with a robust mixed H-2/H-infinity controller, and providing better reference tracking. The study shows that EVs and the adopted controller can effectively respond to various scenarios, reducing the burden on Conventional Sources (CS) while paving the way for a pollution-free future grid.

Hybrid technique for load frequency control of renewable energy sources with unified power flow controller and energy storage integration

Vijayalaxmi Munisamy et al.

Summary: In this manuscript, a load frequency control (LFC) method for a multiple area hybrid power system integrated with renewable energy sources using energy storage system is proposed. The method combines Meta-heuristic Anopheles Search Algorithm (MASA) and artificial intelligence (AI) technique, with PID control and UPFC series connection for power distribution quality maintenance, showing higher efficiency in simulation outcomes compared to existing methods.
