Summary: This study demonstrates a novel and effective strategy of dual system activation process to construct the nitrogen-doped biomass-derived carbon with hierarchically porous architecture, which improves conductivity, facilitates charge transfer, and decreases diffusion path for lithium-ion transport. The electrode displays a high lithium-ion storage capacity and superior stability, while the assembled asymmetric lithium-ion capacitor exhibits excellent cycling stability and delivers a high power density. This dual system activation strategy may inspire the reasonable design of new generation progressive carbon-based electrodes for high-performance lithium storage devices.

Unique CNTs-chained Li4Ti5O12 nanoparticles as excellent high rate anode materials for Li-ion capacitors

Summary: Composite anode materials with a unique structure of carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-chained spinel lithium titanate (LTO) nanoparticles were prepared for lithium ion capacitors (LICs). The CNTs networks derived from commercial conductive slurry not only restricted the growth of LTO particles but also significantly enhanced the electronic conductivity of the CNTs/LTO composites, contributing to excellent rate capability and cycle stability. The LIC assembled with AC cathode and CNTs/LTO composite anode exhibited excellent energy storage properties, including high energy density and capacity retention after cycles.

3D printed carbon-fibre reinforced composite lattice structures with good thermal-dimensional stability
