Facile synthesis of metal organic framework-derived cobalt sulfide on Ni foam as binder-free electrode of battery supercapacitor hybrid

Binder-free electrodes without insulated binders are investigated for reducing costs. In this work, binder-free electrodes with sulfurized zeolitic imidazolate framework 67 (ZIF67) on nickel foam (S-ZIF67/NF) are fabricated for the first time and their synthesis process parameters are studied. A BSH composed of reduced graphene oxide negative electrode and S-ZIF67/NF positive electrode shows high energy density and cycle stability.

The performance of the binder-free electrodes in the study showed that the ternary LDH electrode had better electrochemical properties than the binary one, and the partially sulfide Ni1Co2S/Ni electrode exhibited the optimal performance. The hybrid supercapacitor device assembled with Ni1Co2S as the positive electrode and active graphene as the negative electrode displayed high energy density, good rate capability, and cycling stability.
