Role of Heparan Sulfate in Vasculogenesis of Dental Pulp Stem Cells

A. Li et al.

Summary: This study reveals the crucial role of heparan sulfate (HS) in endothelial differentiation and vasculogenesis of dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs). The results show that inhibiting HS activity decreases the proliferation and sprouting ability of DPSCs and reduces the expression of proangiogenic markers. Silencing the HS biosynthesis key enzyme EXT1 alters the gene expression profile and vascular formation capacity of DPSCs. The findings provide new perspectives for the application of HS in tissue engineering and dental pulp regeneration.

Injectable decellularized dental pulp matrix-functionalized hydrogel microspheres for endodontic regeneration

Liwen Zheng et al.

Summary: This study proposes a new strategy for pulp regeneration by using hydrogel microspheres incorporated with decellularized dental pulp matrix-derived bioactive factors to simulate a pulp-specific three-dimensional microenvironment. The constructed microspheres exhibit favorable plasticity, biocompatibility, and biological performances, and hDPSCs cultured on the microspheres demonstrate enhanced pulp-formation ability. In vivo experiments show that the microspheres facilitate the regeneration of pulp-like tissue and new dentin. The decellularized pulp matrix-derived bioactive factors mediate the multi-directional differentiation of hDPSCs to regenerate the pulp tissue.
