The 'armed concrete' approach: stent-screw-assisted internal fixation (SAIF) reconstructs and internally fixates the most severe osteoporotic vertebral fractures

Daniela Distefano et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed 80 treated vertebrae and found that the SAIF technique is a minimally invasive, safe, and effective treatment for patients with severe osteoporotic VCFs with middle-column involvement. The reconstruction of the damaged vertebral body and clinical outcomes were satisfactory with significant improvement in patient-reported pain scores.

Is Kummell's Disease a Misdiagnosed and/or an Underreported Complication of Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures? A Pattern of the Condition and Available Treatment Modalities

Olga Adamska et al.

Summary: Minimally invasive surgery and conservative treatment are effective options for patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures at risk for Kummell's disease. While there are inconsistencies in the efficacy of certain treatment methods, managing osteoporosis remains crucial, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early diagnosis.
