Human gut bacteria produce TH17-modulating bile acid metabolites

Donggi Paik et al.

Summary: This study identifies bile acids produced by gut bacteria that inhibit the differentiation of T(H)17 cells, a key immune cell type involved in inflammatory disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease. The levels of these bile acids are reduced in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and are inversely correlated with the expression of T(H)17-cell-associated genes.

The gut microbiota as a biomarker for realistic exposures to pesticides: A critical consideration

Paula C. Kandel Gambarte et al.

Summary: The gut microbiota in mammals plays a crucial role in physiological functions such as nutrient uptake, vitamin absorption, and metabolic pathways. It is increasingly considered as a biological determinant of susceptibility to developmental disorders. The utility and predictive power of microbiome assays for pesticides in mammals will depend on the rigorous selection and application of study design features.

Mucins, gut microbiota, and postbiotics role in colorectal cancer

Ramesh Pothuraju et al.

Summary: An imbalance in the crosstalk between host and gut microbiota can lead to inflammatory diseases and colorectal cancer, with dietary patterns playing a crucial role in regulating gut microbiota composition and maintaining mucin expression. Proper communication between host and gut microbiota through different dietary patterns is essential for maintaining mucus composition and regulation in health and disease.
