Development of machine learning based droplet diameter prediction model for electrohydrodynamic atomization systems

Tao Dong et al.

Summary: In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) model was developed to efficiently and accurately correlate the relationship between electrohydrodynamic atomization (EHDA) process variables and droplet diameter. With a database of 8628 data points, the ANN model could predict EHDA droplet diameter with high accuracy. This study provides a powerful intelligent tool for efficient prediction of droplet size in EHDA systems.

Categorization of Sprays by Image Analysis with Convolutional Neuronal Networks

Damian Pieloth et al.

Summary: A convolutional neural network was developed to accurately determine droplet size from spray images. The network was designed and trained using open-source software packages and a desktop computer, and its accuracy was verified against reference methods. The measurements of droplet size distribution from the neural network method showed minimal deviation compared to the reference method.

Drop size measurement techniques for sprays: Comparison of image analysis, phase Doppler particle analysis, and laser diffraction

R. Sijs et al.

Summary: This study evaluated four methods for measuring droplet size distributions, showing significant differences in results obtained by different methods. The Image Analysis VisiSizer technique and stroboscopic imaging method yield similar results, but corrections made by VisiSizer software may skew the outcomes. PDPA is influenced by air bubbles, while laser diffraction technique tends to overestimate the number of small droplets.

Modelling Spray Pressure Effects on Droplet Size Distribution from Agricultural Nozzles

Emanuele Cerruto et al.

Summary: Drop size is a critical factor affecting the effectiveness of phytosanitary treatments, with higher pressure leading to increased drop pulverization. Different nozzle types can influence the degree of drop pulverization. Experimental results suggest that drop pulverization becomes more severe as pressure increases.
