On-site contactless surface analysis of modern paintings from Galleria Nazionale (Rome) by reflectance FTIR and Raman spectroscopies

Diana Mancini et al.

Summary: This study utilized Specular Reflectance Infrared Spectroscopy (SR-FTIR) and Raman spectroscopy to successfully identify the diversity of paints used in artworks created by German and Italian painters around the 1960s. The methodology proved effective in distinguishing acrylic, vinylic, oil media, and enamel paints, complemented by Raman analyses for pigment identification.

Study of the Structure and Properties of ZnS Utilized in a Fluorescence Biosensor

Y. Ren et al.

Summary: "ZnS materials have been widely used in fluorescence biosensors to characterize different types of stem cells due to their excellent fluorescence effect. In this study, ZnS was prepared by vulcanizing nano-Zn particles synthesized using a DC arc plasma. The composition and structure of the ZnS materials were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and their functional group information and optical properties were investigated by using IR spectrophotometry and UV-vis spectrophotometry. The synthesized materials consisted of Zn, cubic ZnS, and hexagonal ZnS according to the vulcanization parameters. The crystalline structure of ZnS transformed gradually from cubic to hexagonal with varying sulfurization temperatures, with an optimal temperature yielding the best cycling performance and specific capacity."
