Effect of dietary lipid levels on the anti-oxidant responses, initial immunity, and mTOR signaling in the liver of coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch)

Hairui Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of dietary lipid levels on the anti-oxidant responses, initial immunity, and mTOR signaling in the liver of coho salmon were evaluated. The results showed that higher dietary lipid levels enhanced the anti-oxidant capacity of the liver, but had no significant effect at even higher lipid levels. Increased dietary lipid levels also induced the activation of mTOR signaling and affected the cellular morphology of the liver.

Effects of full replacement of dietary fishmeal with insect meal from Tenebrio molitor on rainbow trout gut and skin microbiota

Genciana Terova et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of fully replacing fishmeal with Tenebrio molitor larvae meal on the gut and skin microbiota of rainbow trout. The data showed slight changes in the microbiota after total replacement with insect meal, with no major effects on bacterial species richness and diversity. The study suggests that Tenebrio molitor larvae meal could be a viable alternative to fishmeal in aquafeeds.

Influence of short-term fasting on oxidative stress, antioxidant-related signaling molecules and autophagy in the intestine of adult Siniperca chuatsi

Tian Bu et al.

Summary: The study assessed the effects of short-term fasting on fish growth. Short-term fasting increased ROS and MDA content, as well as antioxidant capacity, promoting cellular autophagy. Expression of antioxidant signaling genes was upregulated, while expression of autophagy-related genes increased after fasting. Additionally, mTOR expression decreased.
