Catecholamine concentrations in duck eggs are impacted by hen exposure to heat stress

Joshua M. Lyte et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine norepinephrine and L-dopa concentrations in albumen and yolk of eggs laid by hens maintained under normal or heat stress conditions. The study found that heat stress can affect norepinephrine concentrations. These data highlight the potential utility of in ovo catecholamine concentrations as non-invasive measures of the hen's response to stress, as well as warrants future research into whether hen deposition of stress-related neurochemicals into the egg could serve as a chemotactic signal in the vertical transmission of foodborne pathogens.

RNA-seq Analysis Reveals Alternative Splicing Under Heat Stress in Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

Jun Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, RNA transcriptome sequencing technology (RNA-Seq) and genomic information were used to identify alternative splicing events in rainbow trout, revealing a large number of differential alternative splicing events and differentially expressed genes under heat stress. Gene ontology and pathway enrichment analysis showed the gene expression characteristics of rainbow trout under heat stress. The results were validated by qRT-PCR, confirming the reliability of the bioinformatics analysis.

Inhibition of PLK3 Attenuates Tubular Epithelial Cell Apoptosis after Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury by Blocking the ATM/P53-Mediated DNA Damage Response

Weiming Deng et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that PLK3 is involved in oxidative stress-induced DNA damage and renal tubular epithelial cell apoptosis in renal ischemia-reperfusion injury. Inhibition of PLK3 attenuates renal tubular epithelial cell apoptosis by blocking the ATM/P53-mediated DNA damage response. PLK3 may serve as a potential therapeutic target for ischemic acute kidney injury.

Impacts of heat stress on immune responses and oxidative stress in farm animals and nutritional strategies for amelioration

Surinder S. Chauhan et al.

Summary: Heat stress poses a significant challenge to the global livestock industries, affecting animal production and leading to economic losses. Research has made progress in understanding the impacts of heat stress on oxidative stress, immune responses, and developing interventions to improve farm animal health. Attention to the crosstalk between the immune system and oxidative stress, and the use of antioxidants as potential strategies to alleviate heat stress, are important considerations in mitigating the impacts of heat stress on farm animals.

Crosstalk between Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress and Oxidative Stress in Heat Exposure-Induced Apoptosis Is Dependent on the ATF4-CHOP-CHAC1 Signal Pathway in IPEC-J2 Cells

Yanjun Cui et al.

Summary: The study found that under heat stress conditions, intestinal porcine epithelial cells IPEC-J2 exhibited oxidative stress and cell apoptosis. In addition, heat stress also activated the endoplasmic reticulum stress response and inhibited glutathione metabolism.

Comprehensive RNA-Seq Profiling Reveals Temporal and Tissue-Specific Changes in Gene Expression in Sprague-Dawley Rats as Response to Heat Stress Challenges

Jinhuan Dou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying thermal tolerance in animals using Sprague-Dawley rats subjected to different heat stress conditions. It identified numerous differentially expressed genes and biological processes, proposing potential candidate genes for regulating heat stress response in livestock. Additionally, it highlighted five genes associated with heat stress response across mammal species, based on genome-wide association studies in cattle and phenome-wide association studies in humans.
