Applications of Decision Tree and Random Forest as Tree-Based Machine Learning Techniques for Analyzing the Ultimate Strain of Spliced and Non-Spliced Reinforcement Bars

Hamed Dabiri et al.

Summary: In this study, Tree-Based machine learning techniques were used to analyze the ultimate strain of non-spliced and spliced steel reinforcements. A database containing 225 experimental test results was collected, and various effective parameters were defined as input variables. The predicted outcomes were compared to actual values, and the precision of the prediction models was assessed. The proposed ML-based methods showed acceptable reliability and were time-saving and cost-effective compared to experimental examinations. Furthermore, the models could be incorporated into a comprehensive prediction model for estimating the stress-strain behavior of steel bars.
