Selection of Relative DEM Time Step for Modelling Fast Fluidized Bed of A-Type FCC Particles

Guorong Wu et al.

Summary: This article discusses the impact of the stiffness coefficient and DEM time step on the simulation of A-type FCC particles. The results indicate that a moderate relative time step can accurately predict the flow regime, while excessive and insufficient time steps lead to divergence. It is suggested that future research should focus on improving the simulation framework and using molecular dynamics models to handle particle contact more appropriately.

DPM Simulations of A-Type FCC Particles' Fast Fluidization by Use of Structure-Dependent Nonlinear Drag Force

Guorong Wu et al.

Summary: Nonlinear drag force in gas-solid systems has been studied using a structure-dependent model, which reduces drag and leads to more distinct particle clustering and heterogeneous flow. However, simulation accuracy is affected by time and space resolution.
