Comparative Investigation of Cellular Effects of Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Derivatives

Ha Pham Le Khanh et al.

Summary: Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) are widely used in cosmetics, consumer care products, and the pharmaceutical industry due to their advantageous properties. However, little research has been done on the comparative study of PEGs with different molecular weights. This study aimed to investigate the effects of PEGs on cells and larvae, and correlate these effects with molecular weight and osmolality. The results showed that the effects of PEGs were correlated with their structure, molecular weight, osmolality, and cytotoxicity.

Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: A Review of the Evidence for the 2021 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections Treatment Guidelines

Paul Nyirjesy et al.

Summary: This article discusses the latest CDC STI Treatment Guidelines for vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC). Yeast culture remains the gold standard for diagnosis, but newer molecular assays have also shown good performance. Azole antifungals are still the treatment of choice for uncomplicated VVC. There are promising new drugs for recurrent VVC and non-albicans yeast infections.

Oteseconazole: an advance in treatment of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis

Jack D. Sobel et al.

Summary: RVVC presents significant burdens on women in terms of disease, financial impact, and quality of life, and currently lacks an approved treatment. Fluconazole is a widely accepted first-line treatment for RVVC, but has limitations such as resistance development and high recurrence rates. Oteseconazole, a novel treatment option, has shown impressive efficacy and a promising profile for superior RVVC management.

Dewatering Cellulose Nanomaterial Suspensions and Preparing Concentrated Polymer Composite Gels via Reverse Dialysis

Jianshan Liao et al.

Summary: Reverse dialysis is an effective method for dewatering cellulose nanomaterials, avoiding common issues such as aggregation and heterogeneity. This method allows for the preparation of high-loading composite materials and expands the processing range of sustainable nanomaterials while preserving their beneficial properties. Recycling of PEG solutions through ultrafiltration can create an energy-efficient, closed-loop dewatering process for hard-to-redisperse cellulose nanomaterials.
