Bicarbazole-based oxime esters as novel efficient photoinitiators for photopolymerization under UV-Vis LEDs

Ruchun Zhou et al.

Summary: Five novel oxime ester type photoinitiators based on the bicarbazole structure were designed and synthesized to extend the absorption wavelength range of photoinitiators to the near-ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) region and ensure the high efficiency of photoinduced polymerization. Introduction of alkyl chains with different lengths and/or cyclizations and further alpha-carbonyl groups influenced absorption and photolysis properties. The rationality of the designed molecules was proven by UV-vis spectra, and the optimized photoinitiators showed better photopolymerization and storage stabilities in photocuring formulations compared to commercial photoinitiators like OXE 02.

Substituent effects on the photoinitiation ability of coumarin-based oxime-ester photoinitiators for free radical photopolymerization

Fatima Hammoud et al.

Summary: A series of coumarin chromophore-based oxime-esters were synthesized as visible light photoinitiators, showing high efficiency in polymerization and thermal initiation ability. The new structures also exhibited remarkable performance in free radical polymerization and were used for direct laser write applications at 405 nm.

Synthesis and free radical photopolymerization of triphenylamine-based oxime ester photoinitiators

Zhong-Han Lee et al.

Summary: Four visible light triphenylamine-based oxime ester photoinitiators were successfully synthesized and confirmed through various measurements. These photoinitiators showed good double bond conversion efficiency in free radical polymerization. The photochemical reaction behavior was studied using various techniques such as photolysis, cyclic voltammograms, electron spin resonance, and theoretical calculations.
