miR-27b-3p inhibits estrogen secretion of goose granulosa cells by targeting CYP1B1 through the AMPK signaling pathway

Shenqiang Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the expression profiles and functions of miR-27b-3p in goose ovarian follicle development. It was found that miR-27b-3p was highly expressed in hierarchical follicles and could regulate estrogen secretion in granulosa cells. The downstream target of miR-27b-3p, CYP1B1, was identified and found to be involved in the AMPK signaling pathway.

Cisplatin nephrotoxicity: new insights and therapeutic implications

Chengyuan Tang et al.

Summary: The authors review the mechanisms of cisplatin-induced kidney injury and discuss the challenges and potential targets for renoprotection. The cellular and molecular mechanisms of cisplatin nephrotoxicity involve DNA damage, mitochondrial pathology, oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and stress responses such as autophagy, cell-cycle arrest, senescence, apoptosis, programmed necrosis, and inflammation. Emerging evidence suggests a contribution of epigenetic changes to cisplatin-induced kidney injury. Potential therapeutic targets have been identified, but their effects on the efficacy of cisplatin chemotherapy need further evaluation.

Extracellular vesicles derived from patients with antibody-mediated rejection induce tubular senescence and endothelial to mesenchymal transition in renal cells

Rossana Franzin et al.

Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EV) play an important role in the pathophysiology of antibody-mediated allograft rejection (AMR), inducing tubular senescence and endothelial to mesenchymal transition (EndMT) and regulating associated miRNA expression. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying AMR and provide potential targets for therapeutic intervention.

CYP1B1-catalyzed 4-OHE2 promotes the castration resistance of prostate cancer stem cells by estrogen receptor α-mediated IL6 activation

Qimei Lin et al.

Summary: The study reveals the significant role of CYP1B1 in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), as it promotes the expression of prostate cancer stem cell (PCSC) characteristics and reduces sensitivity to bicalutamide through the catalysis of 4-OHE2. This research uncovers a novel mechanism of CRPC development.

The Long Non-coding RNA HOTAIR Controls the Self-renewal, Cell Senescence, and Secretion of Anti-aging Protein α-Klotho in Human Adult Renal Progenitor Cells

Angela Picerno et al.

Summary: The lncRNA HOTAIR is highly expressed in renal progenitor cells and plays a key role in maintaining their proliferative capacity and limiting apoptosis. Knockout of HOTAIR leads to senescence of renal progenitor cells and decreased expression of the stem cell marker CD133. HOTAIR exerts its function through epigenetic silencing of cell cycle inhibitor p15.

EMT-cancer cells-derived exosomal miR-27b-3p promotes circulating tumour cells-mediated metastasis by modulating vascular permeability in colorectal cancer

Rongzhang Dou et al.

Summary: This study reveals a novel mechanism by which EMT-CRC cells promote metastasis by increasing blood vessel permeability and facilitating the generation of CTCs through the transfer of exosomal miR-27b-3p. The upregulation of miR-27b-3p in CRC tissues and its positive correlation with malignant progression and CTC count in CRC patients suggest that exosomal miR-27b-3p may become a promising biomarker for CRC metastasis.
