Summary: This PRISMA-adherent systematic review and meta-analysis aims to evaluate the progression of cardiac dysfunction and levels of natriuretic peptides, and risk of heart failure in cancer patients receiving anthracyclines. The review found that there were no significant declines in cardiac function compared to after six months of treatment cessation. Approximately one in six patients experienced significant declines in LVEF.

Prospective assessment of anxiety among pediatric oncology patients and their caregivers during the COVID-19 pandemic a cohort study

Summary: This study aimed to assess the anxiety and emotional-behavioral difficulties among oncologic children and their caregivers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings showed that a certain proportion of caregivers and patients reported anxiety symptoms, but the prevalence was similar to anxiety reported following a diagnosis of pediatric malignancy. There were no significant differences between patients' self-reports and caregivers' reports in terms of anxiety and emotional-behavioral difficulties. This suggests that the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on these individuals is relatively small, but late effects still need to be monitored.

Depression and anxiety in older adults with cancer: Systematic review and meta-summary of risk, protective and exacerbating factors

Summary: This systematic review examined the risk factors of depression and anxiety in older adults with cancer. Thirty-three cohort studies were included, with 31 evaluating depression and seven evaluating anxiety. The results showed various factors in different domains that can either protect against or exacerbate depression and anxiety in this population. Understanding these factors can help policymakers tailor interventions to manage psychological distress in older adults with cancer.

Associations of Symptom Clusters and Health Outcomes in Adult Survivors of Childhood Cancer: A Report From the St Jude Lifetime Cohort Study

Summary: The purpose of this study was to identify symptom clusters among adult survivors of childhood cancers and test their associations with health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and physical and neurocognitive performance. The study identified four clusters of symptoms, and survivors with higher symptom burden were associated with sociodemographic characteristics, treatment factors, HRQOL, and functional outcomes.

Summary: This study investigates the associations between experiences and beliefs and post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) among adolescent survivors of intermediate-risk Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). The results indicate that fatigue, concerns for the future, activity limitations, and relapse history are associated with higher PTSS scores. Longer time since diagnosis is associated with lower PTSS scores.

Vitamin E, Alpha-Tocopherol, and Its Effects on Depression and Anxiety: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

The results showed that vitamin E supplementation had a beneficial effect on depression, but the effect on anxiety was inconclusive. Worries and Benefit Finding in Cancer Survivors and Parents: A Longitudinal Study

Summary: This study aimed to explore the interplay between positive and negative illness experiences in childhood cancer survivors and their families, and prospectively investigate the relationship between benefit finding, cancer-related worries, depressive symptoms, and life satisfaction. The findings suggest that benefit finding is related to both positive well-being and negative illness experiences, and can buffer the negative effects of cancer-related worries on life satisfaction.
