Meta-analysis and systematic review: Prevalence, graft failure, mortality, and post-operative thrombosis in liver transplant recipients with pre-operative portal vein thrombosis

Jun Wei Yeo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between pre-transplant portal vein thrombosis (PVT) and outcomes after liver transplantation. The prevalence of preoperative PVT was 11.6%, and it was associated with increased overall mortality, graft failure, and post-operative PVT. Prophylactic anticoagulation may be considered to reduce re-thrombosis and improve survival.
