Validity of two-dimensional ultrasound for determining extreme foetal weights to term

Mariola Sanchez-Fernandez et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the validity of ultrasound in estimating full-term fetal weight and diagnosing extreme fetal weights. The results showed that ultrasound estimates of fetal weight had an accuracy ratio of 75.1%, but this decreased significantly for extreme fetal weights. The simple error increased for both high and low fetal weights.

Epigenetics Beyond Fetal Growth Restriction: A Comprehensive Overview

Noemi Salmeri et al.

Summary: Fetal growth restriction is a complex condition with multifactorial etiology, involving factors from the fetus, mother, and placenta. Recent studies have highlighted the crucial role of the placenta in fetal programming and its impact on the adult life phenotype of the fetus. Epigenetic mechanisms may be associated with fetal growth restriction.

Observer Influence with Other Variables on the Accuracy of Ultrasound Estimation of Fetal Weight at Term

Mariola Sanchez-Fernandez et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the role of experienced observers in influencing the accuracy of ultrasound used to calculate estimated fetal weight (EFW) at term. Valid predictions with error less than 10% and 15% were 74.7% and 89.7% respectively, with accuracy decreasing depending on the observer and extreme fetal weights.
