Summary: The study aimed to determine the prevalence and associated factors of PTSD among internally displaced people in Debre Berhan, Ethiopia. The results showed a high prevalence of PTSD in the area, with factors such as occupation, witnessing property destruction, trauma during displacement, frequency of displacement, distress, and unemployment significantly associated with PTSD. Therefore, mental health and psychosocial support are urgently needed to alleviate the long-term suffering of the displaced people.

The effect of melatonin on reduction in the need for sedative agents and duration of mechanical ventilation in traumatic intracranial hemorrhage patients: a randomized controlled trial

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of exogenous melatonin on sedative drugs and mechanical ventilation duration in traumatic intracranial hemorrhage patients in ICU. The results showed that the melatonin group had significantly lower morphine consumption and mechanical ventilation time compared to the control group. Additionally, the melatonin group had a faster rise in Glasgow Coma Score.

Impact of Delirium on Outcomes After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Summary: Delirium after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) can lead to worse outcomes, but it is possible for the symptoms to improve before hospital discharge. The study found that most ICH patients experienced resolution of delirium by the time they were discharged, which was associated with better outcomes compared to patients with persistent delirium. The study also suggested that postacute care site may partially mediate the relationship between delirium and functional outcome in ICH survivors.
