Clinical Efficacy of Sealer-based Obturation Using Calcium Silicate Sealers: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Ji-hyung Kim et al.

Summary: This randomized controlled clinical trial compared the clinical efficacy and outcome of a sealer-based obturation technique with calcium silicate sealers and a continuous wave of condensation technique with a resin-based sealer. The study found no significant differences between the two techniques and noted that sealer extrusion and postoperative pain can negatively impact the prognosis of endodontic treatment.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of previous root canal treatment on the penetration depth of calcium silicate-based sealers and compared two different measurement techniques. The results showed that previous root canal treatment limited the penetration depth of the sealers used during retreatment. The use of AH Plus and MTA Fillapex sealers showed advantages in the retreatment process.

Clinical and Radiographic Outcome of Non-Surgical Endodontic Treatment Using Calcium Silicate-Based Versus Resin-Based Sealers-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Clinical Studies

Viresh Chopra et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the effects of calcium silicate-based sealers and resin-based sealers on clinical and radiographic outcomes in non-surgical endodontic treatment. The results showed that there were no significant differences between the two sealers in terms of post-obturation pain levels at 24 h, but at 48 h, calcium silicate sealers demonstrated superior performance. The findings suggest that calcium silicate-based sealers have similar results to resin-based sealers and provide valuable information for future clinical trials.

A 12-month follow-up of primary and secondary root canal treatment in teeth obturated with a hydraulic sealer

Giulia Bardini et al.

Summary: Both the bioactive sealer and the traditional gutta-percha, zinc oxide-eugenol sealer showed reliable results in non-surgical root canal treatments at 12-month follow-up. The bioactive sealer group exhibited a slightly higher success rate, although not statistically significant. More studies with longer follow-ups are needed to further evaluate the efficacy of these treatment techniques.

Effect of heat application on the physical properties and chemical structure of calcium silicate-based sealers

Hacer Aksel et al.

Summary: The study found that heat application can alter the setting time and flow characteristics of root canal sealers; different sealers showed distinct chemical properties after heat application; HiFlow exhibited the best flow and lower viscosity at high temperatures, while BioRoot experienced weight loss and reduced flow characteristics.

Summary: This prospective clinical study compared postoperative pain after single-visit, non-surgical root canal treatment of teeth with irreversible pulpitis using two different root canal filling techniques. The results showed that the intensity of postoperative pain for the two obturation techniques was equivalent at evaluated time points.

Denise Irene Karin Pontoriero et al.

Summary: The study followed up on 298 endodontically treated teeth for long-term outcomes, with most teeth achieving success within 18 years. Proper root canal filling and precise coronal margins contribute to higher success rates, while the presence of a post does not significantly affect the final outcome.

Summary: This study compared the intensity of post-obturation pain after unintentional apical extrusion of calcium silicate-based root canal sealers with a resin-based sealer. The results showed similar postoperative pain results between the root canal sealers evaluated, but AH Plus and Bio-C Sealer demonstrated significant pain reduction at 12 hours, whereas BC Sealer did not show differences in pain intensity even after 1 week.
