Chest Pain after Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection for Esophageal Cancer: The Simple and Clinically Useful Surrogate Marker for Transmural Thermal Injury by Electrocoagulation

Makoto Sakai et al.

Summary: Chest pain after esophageal ESD is associated with postoperative elevation of WBC count on day 1, potentially reflecting transmural thermal injury during ESD. Chest pain serves as a simple and clinically useful surrogate marker for transmural thermal injury, indicating the presence of post-esophageal ESD coagulation syndrome.

Factors influencing development of non-cardiac chest pain after endoscopic submucosal dissection for esophageal neoplasms: a retrospective case-control study of 309 patients from a single center

Dian Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence and predictive factors of non-cardiac chest pain (NCCP) after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for esophageal neoplasms, finding that a history of previous surgery and postoperative fever were independent risk factors for chest pain. Chest pain and fever post-ESD were associated with prolonged hospitalization time and increased hospitalization cost.

Effects of dexmedetomidine on intraoperative hemodynamics, recovery profile and postoperative pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized controlled trial

Qin Ye et al.

Summary: Based on the research findings, intravenous infusion of 0.6 mu g/kg dexmedetomidine before induction can maintain hemodynamic stability, reduce cough occurrence, and alleviate postoperative pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Compared with the control group, patients in the dexmedetomidine groups had less fluctuations in heart rate and blood pressure, lower incidence of cough during surgery, as well as lower visual analogue scale scores and tramadol dosage for postoperative pain relief.
