Perpendicular catheter orientation during papillary muscle ablation results in larger, deeper lesions

Udi Nussinovitch et al.

Summary: Catheter orientation perpendicular to papillary muscle tissue achieves more effective and larger ablation lesions, with greater lesion depth. This may have implications for the chosen ventricular access approach, the type of catheter used, consideration for remote navigation, and steerable sheaths.

Catheter ablation for papillary muscle arrhythmias: A systematic review

Marco Valerio Mariani et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the efficacy and safety of catheter ablation for papillary muscle ventricular arrhythmias (PM-VAs). The results showed that catheter ablation is an effective and safe strategy, with an acute success rate of 88.1% and a long-term success rate of 69.2%. Complication rates were relatively low. The use of intracardiac echocardiography, irrigated catheters, and catheters with contact force sensing capability were associated with higher rates of long-term arrhythmia-free outcomes.

Impact of contact force sensing technology on outcome of catheter ablation of idiopathic pre-mature ventricular contractions originating from the outflow tracts

Tobias Reichlin et al.

Summary: This retrospective multi-center study compared outcomes of idiopathic outflow tract PVC ablation using standard ablation catheters versus CF-sensing catheters. The study found that the use of CF-sensing technology did not result in increased success rates or decreased complication rates in the treatment of idiopathic outflow tract PVCs.
