Management of Inflammatory Aortic Aneurysms-A Scoping Review

Caroline Caradu et al.

Summary: This scoping review investigates the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysms (InflAAAs), identifying some unresolved issues in this area. The "mantle sign" on computed tomography angiography (CTA) is pathognomonic for InflAAAs. Corticosteroids are strongly recommended as the initial treatment for all patients. However, further research is needed to determine the optimal surgical and endovascular options.

Can We Still Teach Open Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in The Endovascular Era? Single-Center Analysis on The Evolution of Procedural Characteristics Over 15 Years

Matthias Trenner et al.

Summary: In vascular centers, an endovascular first policy has led to a higher number of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) procedures compared to open aortic repair (OAR) for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). The decline in OAR cases raises concerns about the impact on procedural outcomes and surgical expertise. This study aimed to analyze the outcomes, AAA morphology, and procedural details of OAR over the past 15 years while implementing an endovascular first approach.

Imaging characteristics and diagnostic accuracy of FDG-PET/CT, contrast enhanced CT and combined imaging in patients with suspected mycotic or inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysms

Lars Husmann et al.

Summary: By evaluating the diagnostic accuracy and specific imaging characteristics of PET/CT, CE-CT, and CE-PET/CT in patients with MAA, IAA, and AAA, this study found that specific imaging characteristics of PET/CT and CE-CT may be helpful in differentiating between different types of aneurysms.

Summary: The study found that larger abdominal aortic diameter, size index, and height index were independently associated with an increased risk of major adverse events in patients with established vascular disease.

Surgical strategy of IgG4-related inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm with preoperative steroid therapy: A case report

Yasuo Suehiro et al.

Summary: This case study reports a 78-year-old male patient with IgG4-related inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm. Preoperative steroid therapy led to improvement in inflammatory markers and IgG4 concentrations, reducing surgical risk and allowing for open surgical procedures.

Parallel Murine and Human Aortic Wall Genomics Reveals Metabolic Reprogramming as Key Driver of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Progression

Gabor Gabel et al.

Summary: Through comparing clinical AAA disease with its two models, genomic similarities were found between clinical AAA disease and the AngII model, suggesting that the metabolic response may causatively be involved in AAA progression and providing a novel therapeutic target. The porcine pancreatic elastase model was classified as a disease initiation model, showing a clear transient genomic response.
