Synergistically boosting highly selective CO2-to-CO photoreduction over BiOCl nanosheets via in-situ formation of surface defects and non-precious metal nanoparticles

Siwen Gong et al.

Summary: A hollow hierarchical BiOCl with highly exposed nanosheets was synthesized using a gas-bubble-template strategy, followed by in-situ introduction of oxygen vacancies and metallic bismuth nanoparticles through thermal treatment in N2. The Bi0/OVs-BOCs showed high selectivity and increased yield in CO2 photoreduction tests, with nearly four times higher efficiency compared to the original BOC. The synergistic effect of in-situ formed OVs and metal nanoparticles was found to significantly enhance the photocatalytic activity and selectivity of solar energy materials.

Facile Synthesis of BiOCl Nanoflakes with Highly Efficient Photocatalytic Activity

Ying Chen et al.

Summary: A novel morphology of octagon-like BiOCl nanoflakes was successfully synthesized by one-step solvothermal reaction in ethylene glycol/water solution with the addition of glutamate acid. The obtained nanoflakes showed excellent photocatalytic activity for the degradation of organic pollutants, with Rhodamine B almost completely degraded in just 4 minutes under ultraviolet-visible light irradiation.

One-Pot Solvothermal Synthesis of Flower-Like S-Doped BiOCl for Enhanced Photocatalytic Property in Dye Degradation and Nitrogen Fixation

Hongjuan Wang et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated S-doped BiOCl photocatalysts and evaluated their photocatalytic degradation and nitrogen fixation performance. The results showed that S-doped BiOCl samples exhibited better activity than pure BiOCl in degrading dyes and fixing nitrogen, with S(6%)-BiOCl sample showing excellent performance.
