Deep Learning for Reliable Classification of COVID-19, MERS, and SARS from Chest X-ray Images

Anas M. Tahir et al.

Summary: In this study, deep convolutional neural networks were used to classify CXR images of COVID-19, SARS, and MERS. The researchers created a unique database and proposed a robust recognition system. They found that InceptionV3 outperformed other networks in certain schemes, and using segmented lung images resulted in more reliable results, which were confirmed by visualization.

Deep learning techniques for liver and liver tumor segmentation: A review

Sidra Gul et al.

Summary: Liver and liver tumor segmentation from 3D volumetric images is a challenging task due to the similarity in properties with other organs. Deep learning techniques have shown exceptional performance in medical image segmentation, and this study aims to summarize the available approaches for liver and liver tumor segmentation using deep learning. Evaluation metrics such as accuracy, volume overlap error, dice coefficient, and mean square distance are discussed, along with different 3D volumetric imaging architectures designed for semantic segmentation. A comparison of previous challenges and their dice scores is also provided.

Standardization of penile angle estimation with a semi-automated algorithm

Nicolas Fernandez et al.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a semi-automated algorithm for standardized and objective assessment of PC using inanimate 3-D penile models. Results showed that optimal camera position between 00 to 300 vertical from the penis gives the least variable and most accurate angle estimation. Further studies using algorithms are needed to define predictive PC cutoff values and evaluate postoperative outcomes.
