Role of Martensite Structural Characteristics on Corrosion Features in Ni-Advanced Dual-Phase Low-Alloy Steels

Chao Hai et al.

Summary: The study found that the martensite phase in Ni-advanced dual-phase weathering steel has a higher potential than ferrite, leading to an increased corrosion rate. Additionally, this work offers a method to enhance the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of advanced weathering steel.

Correlation of micro-galvanic corrosion behavior with corrosion rate in the initial corrosion process of dual phase steel

Heng Chen et al.

Summary: The initial corrosion process of dual phase (DP) steel in NaCl solution involves the presence of both fresh martensite (FM) and tempered martensite (TM) acting as micro-cathodes to promote anodic dissolution of adjacent ferrite matrix. This leads to a two-stage corrosion process with increasing corrosion rate in the first stage and decreasing rate in the second stage due to martensite separation.

New Promising Ceramic Coatings for Corrosion and Wear Protection of Steels: A Review

Navid Attarzadeh et al.

Summary: Steel, with its excellent properties, is widely used in various applications, but it lacks corrosion and wear resistance. Ceramic coatings produced via plasma electrolytic oxidation have been utilized to enhance steel's protective properties. Researchers have developed new methods to overcome the challenges in forming ceramic coatings on steel surfaces and improved the efficiency of PEO ceramic coatings.

Formation of corundum-rich alumina coatings on low-carbon steel by plasma electrolytic oxidation

F. Simchen et al.

Summary: The aim of the study was to design a PEO procedure on low-carbon steel at moderate current densities, which allows for the formation of ceramic coatings dominated by the electrolyte constituents. An aluminate-based electrolyte was utilized, resulting in high corundum content.
