Non-Aqueous Electrodeposition and Characterization of AlCrCuFeNi High Entropy Alloy Thin Films

Beatrice-Adriana Serban et al.

Summary: Materials used in the marine industry require high mechanical strength, low density, and good corrosion resistance. This study focuses on developing new materials with superior properties using the electrochemical deposition technique. The composition and morphology of the obtained high entropy alloy thin films showed uniform structure and small grain profile. The corrosion resistance of the newly developed materials was found to be improved compared to the copper foil substrate when tested in artificial seawater.

Electrodeposition, Characterization, and Corrosion Behavior of CoCrFeMnNi High-Entropy Alloy Thin Films

Ana-Maria Julieta Popescu et al.

Summary: Potentiostatic electrodeposition technique was used to produce CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) thin films on copper substrate, with an electrolyte based on a DMSO-CH3CN organic compound. Microstructure analysis before and after corrosion in artificial seawater showed compact and uniform HEA films, with successful co-deposition of all five elements. Electrochemical measurements in aerated artificial seawater demonstrated the potential of HEA thin films for anti-corrosion protection applications.

Examination of microstructure and corrosion properties of novel AlCoCrFeNi multicomponent alloy

David Miklos Kemeny et al.

Summary: Novel AlCoCrFeNi high entropy alloy thin films were successfully prepared by electrochemical deposition methods, with high porosity observed after 120 min of deposition. The corrosion resistance of the alloy in 3.5% NaCl solution was found to be better than that of the copper substrate.
