A strategy assisted machine learning to process multi-objective optimization for improving mechanical properties of carbon steels

Yupeng Diao et al.

Summary: Machine learning algorithms were used to establish prediction models for improving the mechanical properties of carbon steels. Key descriptors were identified for tensile strength and elongation, and prediction models were developed based on these descriptors. A multi-objective optimization strategy was proposed to optimize two mutually exclusive mechanical properties.

Tailoring cementite precipitation and mechanical properties of quenched and tempered steel by nickel partitioning between cementite and ferrite

F. -C. An et al.

Summary: The study showed that an increase in Ni content improved low-temperature impact toughness in Cr-Ni-Mo steel, but had limited effect on yield and tensile strengths. Ni was found to be beneficial to cementite refinement, but had minimal impact on refining the sizes of both quenched martensite structure and tempered grain size.
