Interfacial bonding and corrosion behaviors of HVOF-sprayed Fe-based amorphous coating on 8090 Al-Li alloy

Y. J. Sun et al.

Summary: To solve the corrosion problems of Al-Li alloys in marine environment, a Fe-based amorphous coating was sprayed on the 8090 Al-Li alloy. The coating mainly consists of amorphous splats and exhibits a strong adhesion strength. It provides a higher corrosion resistance compared to the bare alloy. However, the corrosion behavior of the coating is affected by the formation of a partially crystalline transition zone at the coating-alloy interface and the uneven passive film.

HVOF sprayed Ni-Mo coatings improved by annealing treatment: microstructure characterization, corrosion resistance to HCl and corrosion mechanisms

Kang Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, HVOF spraying technology was used to deposit Ni-Mo alloy coating on nodular cast iron substrate. Post-spray annealing treatment was applied to modify the microstructure and corrosion resistance of the coating. The results show that an unoxidized Ni-Mo coating with low porosity and high bonding strength can be achieved by HVOF. The corrosion behavior of the coating is influenced by temperature and HCl concentration. Post-spray annealing treatment significantly affects the microstructural evolution of the coating and improves its corrosion resistance.

Summary: This study examines the prolonged performance of coatings like Cr3C2-NiCr, Al2O3, Al2O3-TiO2 and WC-12Co in molten zinc for 30 days, and finds that oxide coatings, particularly Al2O3, exhibit better performance compared to carbide coatings. Post-testing evaluation includes corrosion products and phase analysis, elemental mapping, surface morphology, porosity assessment, and weight change data.
