Regulating the recrystallized grain to induce strong cube texture in oriented silicon steel

Mengcheng Zhou et al.

Summary: A strong cube texture with ODF density of 50.73 mrd was successfully obtained by regulating the recrystallized grain orientation using cross-rolling and pulsed electric current. The recrystallized grain size of pulsed samples is about twice that of the annealed sample, achieved through the concurrent effects of electron wind force and Joule heating.

Electric current-induced precipitation hardening in advanced high-strength steel

Hye-Jin Jeong et al.

Summary: The effect of electric current on precipitation hardening for advanced high-strength steel is investigated. It is found that electric current can induce additional hardening effect, leading to an increase in material hardness and volume fraction of precipitates.

Rapid Microstructure Homogenization of a Laser Melting Deposition Additive Manufactured Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si Alloy by Electropulsing

Dandan Ben et al.

Summary: The study found that rapid changes in microstructure of the laser melting deposition (LMD) additive-manufactured Ti-6.5Al-3.5Mo-1.5Zr-0.3Si alloy (TC11) can be achieved through electropulsing treatment (EPT), resulting in a more homogeneous structure. Additionally, EPT also slightly impacted the tensile properties of the sample.

Anisotropic Electroplastic Effects on the Mechanical Properties of a Nano-Lamellar Austenitic Stainless Steel

Y. R. Ma et al.

Summary: The effects of electropulsing treatment (EPT) on microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of cold-rolled 316L austenitic stainless steel with nano-lamellar structure were investigated. Anisotropic electroplastic effects were observed for samples treated in different directions, leading to different hardness, strength, and ductility. The change in sensitivity of microstructures to thermal and athermal effects during EPT was attributed to the variation in current direction between the two types of samples.

Insight into the preferential grain growth of intermetallics under electric current stressing - A phase field modeling

Shuibao Liang et al.

Summary: This study utilized a phase field model to investigate the growth mechanism of intermetallics at the solder/Cu bonding interface under electric current stressing, revealing that the directional migration of grain boundaries and phase boundaries driven by electromigration induced the preferential growth behavior of intermetallics with higher electric conductivity. The study also demonstrated that faster phase boundary migration and growth of intermetallic grains with higher electric conductivity were induced by higher diffusion flux across the interface.

Ultrafast solution treatment to improve the comprehensive mechanical properties of superalloy by pulsed electric current

Shuyang Qin et al.

Summary: The traditional solution and aging processes are key for achieving expected microstructure and excellent mechanical properties in K417G superalloy. Electropulsing solution treatment at 1000 degrees C for 10 minutes can achieve the desired microstructure and modify the harmful gamma/gamma' eutectic phase morphology, improving performance. The primary reasons for these changes are high current density areas between heterogeneous phases and a reduction in system thermodynamic barrier.
