Mechanical behavior of high-entropy alloys

Weidong Li et al.

Summary: Research in high-entropy alloys has been booming since the 2010s, focusing on the vast potential in compositions, microstructures, and properties. Efforts are mainly directed towards exploring the compositional space and microstructures, as well as understanding the mechanical behavior. However, there is still a lack of comprehensive studies on the mechanical behavior of high-entropy alloys.

A mechanistic perspective on the kinetics of plastic deformation in FCC High Entropy Alloys: Effect of strain, strain rate and temperature

Abheepsit Raturi et al.

Summary: The plastic deformation behavior of novel high entropy alloys is determined by the strain rate sensitivity, activation volume, and strain hardening response. Further research is needed to establish theoretical understanding of solid solution strengthening and dislocation activation in 100 percent solute high entropy alloys, and to develop combined experimental and computational approaches for the mechanistic design of new FCC HEAs.
