Induction of Collagen I by CXCL10 in Ovarian Theca-Stroma Cells via the JNK Pathway

Chaojun Wang et al.

Summary: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) poses a significant threat to reproductive-age women. This study found elevated levels of CXCL10 in POI patients and a POI mouse model, which were associated with hormone levels and follicle count. CXCL10 induced collagen I production in ovarian fibrosis through the JNK/c-Jun pathway.

Advances in the cellular immunological pathogenesis and related treatment of primary ovarian insufficiency

Hongna Gao et al.

Summary: This review aims to describe the immunological mechanism in the pathogenesis of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), summarize the alterations in humoral immunity and cellular immunity in patients with POI, and review some associated treatment methods based on these immunological changes. Advances in the field of immunology have increased our understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of POI, which includes changed levels of cytokines and immunological cells, especially Tregs cells and Th17 cells. Based on these advances, many associated treatment methods have become research hotspots. This review focuses on the current literature regarding alterations in cellular immunity in patients with POI, as well as the role in the pathogenesis of POI, and summarizes treatment methods based on these immunological alterations, which have a great application potential in the clinical practice.

Hashimoto's thyroiditis worsens ovaries in polycystic ovary syndrome patients compared to Anti-Mullerian hormone levels

Aliye Nigar Serin et al.

Summary: The study found that the coexistence of PCOS and HT in patients further diminished ovarian reserve, with lower fertility rates and AMH levels in PCOS patients with HT. AMH levels were negatively correlated with anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody levels and the duration of HT, while a significant positive correlation was found between anti-TPO levels and the duration of HT.

Ovarian Reserve Markers in Premature Ovarian Insufficiency: Within Different Clinical Stages and Different Etiologies

Xue Jiao et al.

Summary: Ovarian reserve indicators deteriorate with the progression of ovarian insufficiency, with an increase in FSH and LH but a decrease in AMH, inhibin B, AFC, E-2 and T. AMH has the highest predictive value for POI, and the combination of AMH and AFC is promising for early prediction. Significant differences exist in hormone status among women with different etiologies of POI, with genetic POI showing the worst hormone status.

Premature Ovarian Insufficiency: Past, Present, and Future

Seung Joo Chon et al.

Summary: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is a condition characterized by the loss of normal ovarian function before the age of 40, affecting a small percentage of women under 40. The condition is biochemically defined by amenorrhea, low estrogen levels, and high gonadotropin levels, potentially leading to infertility. POI has a heterogeneous etiology, including both genetic and non-genetic factors, and current research focuses on genetic basis, non-coding RNA, and animal models to uncover pathogenesis and potential treatment targets. Despite recent advances, understanding gene regulatory networks and exploring therapies remain critical for future research.

Treg deficiency-mediated TH1 response causes human premature ovarian insufficiency through apoptosis and steroidogenesis dysfunction of granulosa cells

Xue Jiao et al.

Summary: This study revealed an augmented T helper 1 (T(H)1) response and regulatory T (T-reg) cell deficiency in patients with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), which was strongly correlated with disease severity. In mouse models, increased infiltration of T(H)1 cells in the ovary led to follicle atresia and ovarian insufficiency, while T-reg cells were able to prevent and reverse these effects. Furthermore, interferon (IFN) -gamma and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) -alpha were found to cooperate in promoting granulosa cell apoptosis and suppressing steroidogenesis in the context of POI.
