A 1p/19q Codeletion-Associated Immune Signature for Predicting Lower Grade Glioma Prognosis

Jie Xu et al.

Summary: This study established an immune signature associated with 1p/19q chromosomal codeletion in lower grade gliomas (LGGs) for accurate prediction of prognosis. The prognostic signature was validated in training and testing groups, and immune checkpoints correlated with the risk score were identified.

The role of cellular senescence in cardiac disease: basic biology and clinical relevance

Mozhdeh Mehdizadeh et al.

Summary: This review discusses the role of cellular senescence in cardiac disease, outlines therapeutic strategies for targeting senescence, and considers potential implications for improving the management of patients with heart disease. The complex senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) of senescent cells has important effects on cell and tissue biology. Future research is needed to better understand the precise role of senescent cells in various cardiac pathologies and develop strategies for preventing their accumulation.

Diagnostic accuracy of 1p/19q codeletion tests in oligodendroglioma: A comprehensive meta-analysis based on a Cochrane systematic review

Sebastian Brandner et al.

Summary: Codeletion of chromosomal arms 1p and 19q, together with the mutation in isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 or 2 gene, is the molecular diagnostic criterion for oligodendroglioma. Different techniques, including FISH and PCR-based LOH, showed good sensitivity for detecting 1p/19q codeletions in glioma. NGS and SNP array had high specificity when compared to FISH. MLPA was found to be marginally more cost-effective.

MSC-induced lncRNA AGAP2-AS1 promotes stemness and trastuzumab resistance through regulating CPT1 expression and fatty acid oxidation in breast cancer

Jing Han et al.

Summary: Trastuzumab resistance poses a significant challenge in treating HER-2-positive breast cancer. This study reveals that MSC-induced upregulation of AGAP2-AS1 promotes stemness and trastuzumab resistance through activating FAO. AGAP2-AS1 may serve as a promising predictive biomarker and therapeutic target for these patients.

Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) HOXD-AS2 promotes glioblastoma cell proliferation, migration and invasion by regulating the miR-3681-5p/MALT1 signaling pathway

Xingming Zhong et al.

Summary: This study identified that lncRNA HOXD-AS2 is significantly up-regulated in GBM tissues, promoting the aggressiveness of GBM cells by affecting the miR-3681-5p/MALT1 axis. Silencing HOXD-AS2 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoted apoptosis. Future research is needed to explore the mechanism by which HOXD-AS2 is upregulated in GBM cells to provide new insights for GBM treatment.

TENT4A Non-Canonical Poly(A) Polymerase Regulates DNA-Damage Tolerance via Multiple Pathways That Are Mutated in Endometrial Cancer

Umakanta Swain et al.

Summary: TENT4A plays a critical role in regulating multiple biological pathways, specifically in translesion DNA synthesis, by modulating mRNA stability and translation of DNA polymerase eta and RAD18 E3 ligase. Additionally, TENT4A indirectly regulates RAD18 through the tumor suppressor CYLD and the long non-coding antisense RNA PAXIP1-AS2, leading to dysregulation of TLS in endometrial cancer genomes.

Antigen presentation capability and AP-1 activation accompany methotrexate-induced colon cancer cell senescence in the context of aberrant β-catenin signaling

Magdalena Dabrowska et al.

Summary: This study compared two senescent states of colon cancer cells in response to methotrexate exposure, showing upregulation of immunoproteasome subunit-coding genes and MHC-I-restricted antigen presentation as common features. Changes in NF-kappa B p65 level and AP-1-dependent transcription were observed, along with beta-catenin signaling deregulation. These findings have implications for senescence establishment and potential advantages for colon cancer treatment.

Identification of Glycolysis-Related lncRNAs and the Novel lncRNA WAC-AS1 Promotes Glycolysis and Tumor Progression in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Xigang Xia et al.

Summary: By analyzing the TCGA database, we identified 502 lncRNAs co-expressed with glycolytic genes, with 112 showing abnormal expression in liver cancer and 40 associated with patient prognosis. We established a prognostic model with 8 lncRNAs, showing good predictive power and potential use as an independent prognostic factor. WAC-AS1 was found to play a key role in regulating glycolysis and promoting tumor proliferation in hepatocellular carcinoma.
