Summary: The study found that PAI-1 is significantly elevated in pediatric EoE and can distinguish altered compliance in children. PAI-1 may be a novel disease marker and therapeutic target.

Summary: This study preliminarily showed that combining TNF-alpha -308G/A polymorphisms with NLR and PLR can predict the responsiveness and safety of anti-TNF therapy in patients with AS or RA.

Clinical impact of the PAI-1 4G/5G polymorphism in Chinese patients with venous thromboembolism

Ziran Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the clinical impact of the PAI-1 4G/5G polymorphism in Chinese patients with VTE. The results showed no significant correlation between the PAI-1 4G/5G polymorphism and VTE susceptibility, but differences were observed in neutrophil counts, NLR, recanalization, and recurrence status based on the genotype. Additionally, PAI-1 antigen levels were higher in the VTE group compared to the control group. These findings lay the foundation for the personalized management and monitoring of VTE patients using PAI-1 4G/5G polymorphism.

Genetic analyses identify GSDMB associated with asthma severity, exacerbations, and antiviral pathways

Xingnan Li et al.

Summary: Multiple SNPs in the gasdermin B (GSDMB) gene are associated with asthma severity and longitudinal asthma exacerbations. Higher expression levels of GSDMB correlate with asthma exacerbations and pathways related to IFN signaling and immune system. GSDMB is identified as a functional gene for both asthma susceptibility and severity.

The relevance of CYSLTR1 gene polymorphism to the severity of allergic rhinitis and clinical responsiveness of montelukast in children

Miaomiao Zhao et al.

Summary: The study found that the polymorphism of rs321029 on the CYSLTR1 gene is not associated with the susceptibility and severity of allergic rhinitis (AR) in children, but it is closely related to the efficacy of montelukast on AR. The total montelukast effective rate of wide-type genotype TT children was significantly higher than variants genotype CC children.

Summary: The study found that the 4G/4G genotype of PAI-1 is associated with the development of moderate-to-severe TED, while the 4G/5G polymorphism is not a predictor of plasma PAI-1 levels.

Summary: Research shows that Candida albicans activates platelets through the peptide toxin candidalysin to release the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf-1, promoting Th2 and Th17 cell responses, reducing lung fungal burdens, and preventing lethal pulmonary hemorrhage resulting from fungal lung invasion.
