A kinematic and EMG dataset of online adjustment of reach-to-grasp movements to visual perturbations

Mariusz P. Furmanek et al.

Summary: The control of reach-to-grasp movements is crucial for interacting with objects, requiring rapid sensorimotor updating and online adjustments. However, there is a lack of publicly available datasets on online adjustment of reach-to-grasp movements. This study aims to address this gap by providing a large dataset for modeling such movements.

Continuous Semi-autonomous Prosthesis Control Using a Depth Sensor on the Hand

Miguel Nobre Castro et al.

Summary: This study proposes a system for semi-autonomous control of a myoelectric prosthesis using a single depth sensor. The system automatically pre-shapes the hand and allows users to grasp objects of different shapes and sizes. It also reacts to the side from which the object is approached and enables the user to target the whole object or a part of it. The system relies on online interaction between the user and the prosthesis to complete tasks.

REGRAD: A Large-Scale Relational Grasp Dataset for Safe and Object-Specific Robotic Grasping in Clutter

Hanbo Zhang et al.

Summary: Despite the impressive progress in robotic grasping, robots still lack skills in sophisticated tasks such as searching and grasping specific targets in cluttered environments. This study introduces a new dataset called REGRAD, which aims to improve the learning of relationships between objects and grasps. The authors collected annotations of object poses, segmentations, grasps, and relationships for target-driven relational grasping tasks. The dataset includes both 2D images and 3D point clouds, and allows for the import of new objects for data generation. The authors also provided a real-world validation dataset to evaluate the performance of models trained on REGRAD.

Semi-autonomous control of prosthetic hands based on multimodal sensing, human grasp demonstration and user intention

Julia Starke et al.

Summary: Semi-autonomous control strategies for prosthetic hands improve the grasping process by allowing the user to intervene in the decision-making of the controller. A user study shows that this strategy reduces workload, physical demand, and accelerates the grasping process.

Friction is preferred over grasp configuration in precision grip grasping

Lina K. Klein et al.

Summary: When grasping an object, humans prioritize grasp stability over their natural grasp configuration. The selection of grasp endpoints depends on object orientation and surface material, with participants sacrificing their usual grasp configuration for the more stable sides of objects with different surface materials. This study highlights the importance of stable grasp in object manipulation.
