Long-term effectiveness of add-on perampanel in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome: A multicenter retrospective study

Sara Matricardi et al.

Summary: This retrospective study evaluated the long-term effectiveness of add-on perampanel (PER) in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). The study found that the number of patients who failed treatment with PER increased over time. Among responders, the time to seizure relapse also increased.

Landscape of childhood epilepsies-A multi-ethnic population-based study

Ruba Benini et al.

Summary: This study describes the clinical features of childhood epilepsy in Qatar, showing that most cases have unknown etiology while genetic or structural causes are less common. Majority of patients have neurodevelopmental issues and medically refractory epilepsy, with risk factors such as early age of onset, etiology, and other factors associated with the development of comorbidities and intractable epilepsy.

Efficacy and adverse reactions of perampanel in the treatment of epilepsy in children

Dan Li et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical efficacy and adverse reactions of Perampanel in the treatment of childhood epilepsy. The results showed that Perampanel is highly effective with controllable adverse reactions in the treatment of childhood epilepsy. The effective rate of Perampanel did not vary significantly among different age groups, seizure types, epilepsy syndromes, and treatment methods.

Effectiveness and safety of perampanel as adjunctive therapy among Chinese patients with focal-onset epilepsy: A real-world prospective observational study

Qinyue Wang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of Perampanel as adjunctive therapy for patients with focal-onset seizures in the Chinese population. The results showed that Perampanel significantly reduced seizure frequency and had a high responder rate and seizure-free rate after 12 months of treatment. The type of seizure and concomitant use of anti-seizure medications influenced the treatment response. The incidence of drug-related adverse events was low and mostly mild or moderate.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic effect and influencing factors of perampanel (PER) on electrical status epilepticus during sleep (ESES). The results showed that PER add-on treatment had a good therapeutic effect on ESES and was not dose-dependent. However, a longer duration of ESES was associated with a worse therapeutic effect.

Summary: This retrospective study evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of perampanel (PER) monotherapy in treatment-naive patients with focal onset seizures. The results showed that PER monotherapy had good effectiveness and safety profile in these patients, especially at relatively low doses, but adverse events were higher in elderly patients.

Perampanel effectiveness and tolerability in patients with epilepsy at long-term follow-up

Mariana Fernandes et al.

Summary: The study found that in a real-world setting, the combination of perampanel with 1 or 2 concomitant antiseizure medications showed good effectiveness and tolerability in patients with epilepsy, achieving seizure freedom without requiring high doses of the drug. The effectiveness was maintained in the long-term follow-up, and early addition of perampanel led to a higher likelihood of achieving seizure freedom.
