Integrating multiple redox-active sites and universal electrode-active features into covalent triazine frameworks for organic alkali metal-ion batteries

Juan Chu et al.

Summary: This study successfully constructed universal organic alkali metal-ion batteries by synthesizing redox-active polymers with multiple redox-active sites and multiple functions. The crystalline and amorphous polymers were systematically studied, and it was found that the amorphous polymer with more active sites and shortened ion diffusion paths exhibited superior performance. The integration of different functional groups in the polymer structure enabled it to have abundant active centers, the ability to absorb ions, and universal electrode-active features at high and low potential.

Covalent triazine framework anchored with atomically dispersed iron as an efficient catalyst for advanced oxygen reduction

Dan Chai et al.

Summary: Developing high-performance non-precious metal electrocatalysts is crucial for the market entry of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). A method involving step-wise polymerization, subsequent pyrolysis, and NH3 activation was explored to construct an efficient Fe modified all-triazine C3N3 framework for the cathodic reaction of fuel cells. The Fe-C3N3-750-NH3 catalyst demonstrates atomic sized Fe species, a dominant four-electron pathway, attractive ORR performance, and good stability compared to commercial Pt/C electrocatalyst.

Constructing stable continuous proton transport channels by in-situ preparation of covalent triazine-based frameworks in phosphoric acid-doped polybenzimidazole for high-temperature proton exchange membranes

Jinwu Peng et al.

Summary: In this research, a stable proton transport channel was constructed for the first time through in-situ preparing CTFs in PBI under mild TFA catalysis. Membranes containing 30% CTFs showed the best performance, with high conductivity, low volume swelling, and high PA retention ability. The study demonstrates that constructing a stable proton transport channel can significantly improve the properties of HTPEMs.

Encapsulation of NiCo nanoparticles into foam-like porous N,P-codoped carbon nanosheets: Electronic and architectural dual regulations toward high-efficiency water electrolysis

Tongfei Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a rational design for earth-abundant and high-efficiency bifunctional electrocatalysts, utilizing a scalable hydrogel-bridged pyrolysis strategy to immobilize uniform NiCo nanoparticles into 2D foam-like porous N,P-codoped carbon nanosheets (NiCo@N,P-CNSs). The resulting catalyst exhibits distinguished bifunctional performance with low overpotentials for HER and OER in alkaline medium, as well as a low cell voltage and outstanding stability in a two-electrode electrolyzer. Density functional theory simulations confirm the favorable Gibbs free energies of water and hydrogen adsorption for the NiCo alloy, enhancing its intrinsic activity and representing a competitive candidate for practical water electrolysis.
