Construction of step-scheme g-C3N4/Co/ZnO heterojunction photocatalyst for aerobic photocatalytic degradation of synthetic wastewater

Harikrishnan Leelavathi et al.

Summary: This study presents the utilization of ternary g-C3N4/Co/ZnO heterojunction photocatalyst for dye degradation. g-C3N4/Co/ZnO nanocomposite was synthesized using a simple ultrasonic and sol-gel method. The physico-chemical characteristics were analyzed to determine the structural properties and the efficiency of photogenerated electron-holes. The S-scheme g-C3N4/Co/ZnO photocatalyst showed high efficiency in the degradation of cationic dyes under visible light irradiation. The presence of metallic Cobalt nanoparticles enhanced the electron transport and the responsiveness of the photocatalyst to sunlight.

3D interconnected g-C3N4 hybridized with 2D Ti3C2 MXene nanosheets for enhancing visible light photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and dye contaminant elimination

Dong Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a high-efficiency 3D/2D g-C3N4/Ti3C2 heterojunction photocatalyst was designed for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and organic dye elimination. The excellent performance of the material is attributed to its 3D interconnected porous structure and the incorporation of Ti3C2 nanosheets, providing a high specific surface area and efficient charge migration. Mechanisms for the improved photocatalytic performance were analyzed through characterization measurements, active species analysis, and density functional theory calculations.

Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2/g-C3N4 Nanocomposites for Removal of Monochlorophenols from Water

Thawanrat Kobkeatthawin et al.

Summary: This research utilized g-C3N4 nanosheets in the hydrothermal synthesis of TiO2/g-C3N4 hybrid photocatalysts, which exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance in the degradation of monochlorophenols. The TiO2/g-C3N4 heterojunctions showed enhanced photocatalytic activity due to the synergistic effect of g-C3N4 and TiO2, as well as the production of active species such as superoxide and hydroxyl radicals. The nitrogen and Ti3+ defects and oxygen vacancies in the TiO2/g-C3N4 nanocomposites improved light-harvesting ability and prevented rapid electron-hole recombination, thereby enhancing the photocatalytic performance.
