Magnetoelectric Effect in Garnet Mn3Al2Ge3O12

Summary: Researchers conducted a systematic study on garnet Mn3Al2Ce3O12, revealing the formation of long-range antiferromagnetic order below the Néel temperature, as well as the observation of an electric polarization effect driven by a magnetic field. Stable control of polarization was achieved under high magnetic fields.

An Overview of the Director State in Gadolinium Gallate Garnet

Summary: The topic of frustrated magnetism has gained significant scientific interest in recent years. A compound, Gd3Ga5O12, has long been regarded as the archetypal frustrated magnet with an unknown ground state. However, a recent study has identified an unusual emergent ground state called the director state in Gd3Ga5O12, which has also been observed in other isostructural compounds. This review provides an overview of the director state, starting with the basics of rare earth magnetism and summarizing the experimental signatures that led to its determination.
