Deferred Polarization Saturation Boosting Superior Energy-Storage Efficiency and Density Simultaneously under Moderate Electric Field in Relaxor Ferroelectrics

Jing Shi et al.

Summary: This study developed high-temperature dielectric materials based on Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) near the morphotropic phase boundary, which exhibit excellent energy storage performance. The random distribution of polar nanoregions induced by composition modulation disrupts the long-range dipolar alignment and weakens the coupling between ferroelectric domains, resulting in slender and deferred polarization-electric field hysteresis loops with relatively high saturation polarization. The relaxors in this study demonstrate reversible nano-domain orientation and growth, leading to negligible remnant polarization and superior energy storage properties, outperforming state-of-the-art dielectric energy storage materials under similar conditions.
