Influence of NiTi Wire Diameter on Cyclic and Torsional Fatigue Resistance of Different Heat-Treated Endodontic Instruments

Eugenio Pedulla et al.

Summary: In this study, we compared the mechanical properties of 2Shape mini TS2 instruments made from different sizes and thermally treated nickel-titanium wires. The results showed that files made from controlled memory wire had higher cyclic fatigue resistance regardless of the wire size, and testing at body temperature had a negative impact on the performance of all files. Additionally, the 1.0mm diameter T-wire instruments exhibited higher cyclic fatigue resistance compared to the 1.2mm diameter instruments.

Differential scanning calorimetric investigations of three rotary nickel-titanium instrument systems before and after simulated clinical uses

Khoa Van Pham

Summary: This study investigated the transformation temperatures of three nickel-titanium instruments before and after simulated clinical uses. The results showed no significant difference in transformation temperatures after sterilization procedures. Neoniti had the highest A(f) temperature, while HyFlex CM Pro had the lowest. The higher A(f) temperatures of the instruments compared to human body temperature indicate increased flexibility in clinical use.
