Comparative Assessment of Phytochemical Compounds and Antioxidant Properties of Kernel Oil from Eight Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus L.) Cultivars

Malgorzata Stryjecka et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the main components of eight cultivars of sour cherry grown in Poland and found that the 'Naumburger' cultivar had the highest amount of oil and major components, as well as the highest content of PUFA, plant sterols, and antioxidants. The results suggest potential applications of Prunus cerasus kernel oils in cosmetic products and pharmaceuticals for health benefits.

Health-Promoting Properties of Borage Seed Oil Fractionated by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction

Lourdes Casas-Cardoso et al.

Summary: Two borage fractionation techniques after extraction with CO2 have been studied, showing successful collection of free fatty acids with improved antioxidant and cytotoxic properties. Both techniques exhibited high tumoricidal activity against HL 60 promyelocytic leukaemia cells, and extracts from separator 2 at 90 bar/40 degrees C exhibited the highest anti-proliferative activity at low doses.
