Improving Stability of Roll-to-Roll (R2R) Gravure-Printed Carbon Nanotube-Based Thin Film Transistors via R2R Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor-Deposited Silicon Nitride

Sagar Shrestha et al.

Summary: Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have great potential in printing thin film transistors (TFTs) due to their high carrier mobility, stability, flexibility, and compatibility. However, the long-term environmental stability of printed SWCNT-based TFTs (pSWCNT-TFTs) is a challenge. In this study, we introduced a low-temperature silicon nitride (SiNx) passivation method on pSWCNT-TFTs using roll-to-roll gravure and plasma-enhanced vapor deposition (PECVD). The SiNx-passivated pSWCNT-TFTs showed improved stability and performance even after temperature and humidity tests.

Fully-printed, paper-based electrochromic devices combined with wireless driving

Guodong Liu et al.

Summary: This study aims to construct a homogeneous film of PEDOT:PSS on a paper substrate using organic solvents and gravure printing. The prepared PEDOT:PSS film demonstrates high conductivity and stability after mild post-treatment. It functions as both an electrochromic and electrode layer in ECDs. The wireless driven electrochromic system, which can be integrated on packaging products, shows great potential for application in intelligent packaging.

Cu-Ag Nanocomposite Pastes for Low Temperature Bonding and Flexible Interlayer-Interconnections

Yin-Chi Lu et al.

Summary: This study developed a Cu-Ag composite paste for low-temperature, low-pressure bonding, which can form well-connected joints between Cu, Ni/Au, and Ag finished substrates at low temperatures and pressures. The joints with Ag surface finish showed enhanced bonding strength, and the sintered structure exhibited stable electrical resistivity even after undergoing harsh reliability tests. This low-temperature, low-pressure nanocomposite paste has great potential as interconnect materials for microelectronics or flexible device assembly.

Controlling Nanostructure in Inkjet Printed Organic Transistors for Pressure Sensing Applications

Matthew J. Griffith et al.

Summary: This study presents a highly sensitive pressure detector developed through inkjet printing of electroactive organic semiconducting materials, capable of rapidly converting shock wave inputs into amplified electronic signals. By optimizing the transistor response through variation of materials, solvents, and printing speeds, the printed device can quickly switch from non-conductive to conductive states at low voltages. The printed sensor operates without the need for gate voltage bias, offering a simple and low-cost solution for detecting stimuli in highly energetic systems.
