Comparative Adsorption of Methylene Blue Dye on Hexane-Washed and Xanthated Spent Grated Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.): Isotherms, Thermodynamics, and Mechanisms

Khadijah Khalid et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption of methylene blue (MB) by two types of chemically modified biosorbents derived from spent grated coconut. The results showed that the xanthated spent grated coconut had a higher adsorption capacity than the hexane-washed spent grated coconut. The desorption study indicated that the hexane-washed biosorbent had a higher desorption ratio, while the xanthated biosorbent demonstrated poor MB desorption due to stronger interaction.
