Paraffin/polyvinyl alcohol/MXene flexible phase change composite films for thermal management applications

Summary: In this work, crosslinked paraffin/polyvinyl alcohol/MXene composite films were prepared by a physical blending method. MXene played a key role in enhancing mechanical strength, light-to-heat conversion efficiency, and thermal conductivity, while maintaining latent heat. The improved flexibility was attributed to MXene nanosheets providing additional hydrogen bond binding sites. The MXene also effectively improved light-to-heat conversion ability and heat transfer rate. The films showed repeatable light-to-heat conversion stability and good compatibility and stability.

Summary: In this study, polyethylene glycol/MXene-cellulose aerogels fs-CPCMs with enhanced light-to-heat conversion, heat transfer, and storage were prepared using freezing casting and in situ encapsulation. The light-to-heat conversion efficiency of PMC fs-CPCMs reached 91.6% due to the presence of MXene. Dispersed MXene improved the heat transfer, and in situ encapsulation prevented reduction in latent heat.

Shape-stabilized phase change material with high phase change enthalpy made of PEG compounded with lignin-based carbon

Summary: In this study, lignin-based carbon materials with different pore structures were prepared using lignin as raw material through template and chemical activation methods. Lignin-based carbon composite phase change materials were prepared by vacuum impregnation. The results showed that the lignin-based hierarchical porous carbon had the highest loading capacity of phase change materials and phase transition enthalpy value. In addition, the cotton fabric coated with the composite phase change material exhibited excellent temperature regulation performance.

One-step construction of novel phase change composites supported by a biomass/MXene gel network for efficient thermal energy storage

Summary: A one-step strategy to construct shape-stable biomass/MXene phase change composites (SMPCCs) with excellent solar thermal conversion capability and thermal reliability is reported. The SMPCCs show high temperature elevation and efficient solar energy storage. They also exhibit negligible decline in thermal energy storage property even after multiple cooling-heating and light-thermal cycles. This work provides a simple and effective approach for fabricating biomass-based phase change composites with great potential for solar thermal energy storage applications.

Novel properties of stearic acid/MXene-Graphene oxide shape-Stabilized phase change material: Ascended phase transition temperature and hierarchical transition

Highly Stable MXene-Based Phase Change Composites with Enhanced Thermal Conductivity and Photothermal Storage Capability

Summary: The study developed a composite phase change material (CPCM) by encapsulating polyethylene glycol (PEG) with a new supporting material prepared by combining melamine foam (MF) and MXene under the influence of polydopamine (PDA). Experimental results showed that the proposed PEG@MPMF CPCM exhibits good heat storage properties and improved light absorption, while maintaining excellent shape stability and reusability after multiple thermal cycles. This novel CPCM shows great potential for heat storage and thermal management applications.
