Synthesis and characterization of linear/nonlinear optical properties of graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide-based zinc oxide nanocomposite

Mohsen Ebrahimi Naghani et al.

Summary: In this study, the linear and nonlinear optical properties of GO-ZnO and RGO-ZnO nanocomposites were investigated and compared with pure GO and RGO. The synthesized materials were characterized using FT-IR, UV-Vis, XRD, and EDX. The results showed successful reduction of GO and synthesis of GO-ZnO and RGO-ZnO nanocomposites. The UV-Vis spectra revealed the direct band gaps of the materials, consistent with the increased nonlinear absorption coefficient and refractive index values obtained from the z-scan technique.

Study on luminescence quenching of ultra-small silicon nanocrystals due to boron doping

Jiaming Chen et al.

Summary: The study investigates the doping effect of boron on the optical properties of Si nanocrystals, revealing low doping efficiency in ultra-small Si nanocrystals and the formation of defects at the surface regions. These defects transition from Pb centers to EX centers, leading to reduced emission intensity and lifetimes in the near-infrared region.

SiOx films deposited by HFCVD: Their conduction response to light and intrinsic photovoltaic effect

Zaira Jocelyn Hernandez Simon et al.

Summary: This study reports the presence of photoconduction and photovoltaic effects in MOS-type structures fabricated using off-stoichiometric silicon oxide (SiOx) deposited by HFCVD technique. The structures exhibit a significant increase in photoconductive response under illumination conditions, with a transition in charge conduction mechanisms. The structures show potential for photovoltaic applications with short deposition time and single MOS-type structure.
