Studying the temperature influence on carbon steel in sour petroleum media using facilely-designed Schiff base polymers as corrosion inhibitors

Summary: Two novel Schiff base polymers (PSB1 and PSB2) with extra-high protective barrier features were prepared and applied as corrosion inhibitors in sour corrosive media of petroleum environments containing H2S gas. The inhibitive action of the polymers on carbon steel was studied using various corrosion testing methods. PSB2 exhibited better performance than PSB1 in electrochemical testing, showing high inhibition efficiencies at different temperatures. These poly Schiff bases showed promising potential as corrosion inhibitors in sour environments, providing a sustainable solution for future environmental protection.

A facile method to prepare high-performance thermal insulation and flame retardant materials from amine-linked porous organic polymers

Summary: The one-step synthesis of imine chain monolithic porous phosphorus-containing organic porous polymers (PPOPs) as an example of efficient thermal insulation and flame retardant was reported. PPOPs showed low thermal conductivity and excellent flame retardant properties. The use of PPOPs in EP composites led to a significant reduction in peak heat release rate and peak smoke release rate during combustion, while also improving the mechanical properties of the composites.

Metal Ion Doping of Alginate-Based Surface Coatings Induces Adipogenesis of Stem Cells

Summary: Metal ions can significantly affect protein and cell functions. In this study, polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) made of chitosan and alginate were doped with different metal ions (Ca2+, Co2+, Cu2+, and Fe3+), resulting in changes in surface properties, such as zeta potentials and water contact angles. Metal ions, especially Cu2+ and Fe3+, had a positive effect on cell adhesion and differentiation, indicating the importance of bioactivity. These metal ion-doped coatings have the potential to promote the differentiation of multipotent cells on implants, without the need for additional growth factors.
