Sedimentology of the Baluti Formation (Late Triassic) in the Warte area, northeastern Iraqi Kurdistan region

Summary: A detailed sedimentological investigation of the Baluti Formation in northeastern Kurdistan, Iraq, revealed that the formation is mainly composed of limestone and marl, with carbonate mainly consisting of carbonate mud. The rocks were subjected to various diagenetic processes, and the environment of deposition was interpreted as a shallow marine subtidal lagoon.
