Circulating microRNA-122 in HCV cirrhotic patients with high frequency of genotype 3

Amin Ullah et al.

Summary: This study investigated the circulating levels of miR-122 in HCV chronic liver disease patients and found that these levels were significantly upregulated in patients with cirrhosis, particularly in those with mild cirrhosis. Additionally, miR-122 showed a positive correlation with ALT values in patients with mild cirrhosis.

Autophagy-Related Activation of Hepatic Stellate Cells Reduces Cellular miR-29a by Promoting Its Vesicular Secretion

Xiaojie Yu et al.

Summary: This study found that activated hepatic stellate cells induce autophagy, leading to the release of miR-29a. Inhibition of autophagy can suppress fibrogenic gene expression by reducing the release of miR-29a.

MicroRNAs in the Pathogenesis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Review

Asahiro Morishita et al.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common and deadly cancer, with a poor prognosis in late stages. Understanding the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in HCC pathogenesis may lead to improved outcomes. MiRNAs have potential as valuable biomarkers and therapeutic targets in HCC diagnosis and treatment.
